To keep costs down the engineers intend to carry over the firewall, the front-mid- engine layout, the transaxle configuration and most of the suspension from the SLS. Wheelbase, length, width and height are sufficiently flexible to create a smaller, lighter, more compact car. Like the SLS, the SLV is likely to be built as a joint effort between Magna Steyr (the Graz plant would be in charge of the aluminium spaceframe body assembly) and Mercedes AMG.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe Virtual Photo Shoot Web Special Launched
Mercedes yesterday tipped us off to a new web special they launched recently highlighting the new 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe. It’s called the “Virtual Photo Shoot,” and it features an impressive array of beautiful women gathered around the new model. Mercedes-Benz had a bumper month globally in June, with sales up 13.2 percent to 113,300 units.
The company has put the record growth down to strong demand for luxury cars in the two leading markets for cars, China and the US. The company said it had also seen strong growth in other emerging markets such as Brazil, Russia and India, where the sales went up by over 70 percent in June in each market.
According to Daimler management, the main growth drivers were the E and S Class Mercedes.

Mercedes celebrates 100 years of sportscar heritage at Pebble Beach
Mercedes is going to celebrate over 100 years. Mercedes will be featuring eight of its iconic cars spanning over all of their 108 years at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.
On August 12-15th, 2010, Mercedes will have a 1902 Mercedes Simplex, a 1929 SSK, 1952 W194 300SL, 1955 W196 300SLR “Uhlenhaut Coupe, ” 1956 W198 300SL, 1970 C111-II, 2011 SLS AMG, and the 2011 SLS AMG GT3 on display at the Mercedes Benz Star Lounge. Not only will they have these eight historic machines on display, but they will also have the entire E-Class line, a Sony Gran Turismo gaming sled, and a Maybach display. Mercedes will also have the SLS AMG line at available for test drives during this fun-filled weekend as well Classic Center vehicles that will be available for purchase.

From August 12-15, 2010, the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge also showcases the entire line of E-Class vehicles, a Sony Gran Turismo 5 gaming sled, and Maybach display in addition to SLS AMG test drives and a selection of Mercedes-Benz Classic Center vehicles that are available for purchase.

Positioned on the third fairway at Pebble Beach, the elegant Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge, a grand display distinguished by its transparent front entrance, provides a striking view of the Pebble Beach course and offers an interactive luxury experience for all ages. For those who want to continue driving a classic, the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center will have five elegant examples for purchase including: a fire engine red 1955 300SL Gullwing, a graphite grey 1956 300Sc Cabriolet with a dove grey interior, a strawberry red 1957 300SL roadster, a dark green 1966 230SL, and a moss green 1958 180D.
The Star Lounge is open to the public from 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM Thursday, August 12th through Sunday, August 15th.
Mercedes C-class Coupe 2011
The 2011 Mercedes C Class Coupe will be assembled at the company’s production site in Bremen which will also manufacture the C-class saloon, estate, and GLK starting from next year. The 2011 Mercedes C Class Coupe would be the second version based on the current C-Class model, besides the E-Class coupe.
The C-Class Coupe will be offered with the same direct injected 3.5 Liter V6 engines that the standard car comes with, and much like the use of forced induction with the supercharged smaller displacement motor in the Kompressor, there will also be a twin turbocharged unit making around 300 HP with a lot less displacement. No words yet on the AMG version, but if Mercedes is keen on the idea of downsizing, expect the hand built 6.2 Liter motor to give way to a 5.5 Liter twin turbocharged V8 engine.
Now highly regarded as Mercedes-Benz’s entry-level model, the C-Class has been credited for bringing in first-time Mercedes-Benz owners who went on to buy their next Benz from the pricier lineups.
Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG: Details Inside and Out
The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG dynamic sports sedan with day-to-day suitability is the top-of-the-line E-Class model, offering an impressive combination of outstanding performance, exhilarating driving dynamics and a technology transfer from the SL63 AMG high-performance Roadster.
The AMG-designed and developed, naturally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 is a fantastic engine, with a glorious deep warble and an awesome top end beyond 5000rpm. Power is up on the previous E63 by 11bhp too, and AMG is even keener to trumpet that fuel consumption has been improved by 12 per cent.
The new E63 AMG distinguishes itself from the standard Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans with a newly developed AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension with electronically controlled damping and a new front axle, and with its unique exterior and interior design. Newly developed compound brakes are also available as an option for the top-of-the-line E-Class model.
On the inside, the BMW M5 fighter features electrically adjustable AMG sports seats, AMG sports steering wheel in a four-spoke design with AMG shift paddles, AMG instrument cluster with an AMG main menu, door entry sills with AMG lettering and a sports pedal cluster. Other interior fitments include an AMG selector lever with one-touch logic and an AMG DRIVE UNIT that is mounted in the centre console, which provides adjustments for the MCT sports transmission, ESP functions, suspension setup as well as AMG driving modes.
The E63 AMG is also equipped with tinted main headlights. The exterior is also finished with AMG side skirts and a AMG rear apron with a black diffuser insert. To round up the visual upgrade, the rear end is finished with chrome-plated twin tailpipes, with the E63 sitting close to the ground with 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels (width of 9 and 9.5 inches) wrapped with 255/40 R 18 tires at the front and 285/35 R 18 tires at the rear.
With all this sophistication, it’s a surprise to find you use a regular key to bring the car to life. The exhaust is nicely vocal, the aluminium paddles on the back of the wheel are cool to the touch and the weighting of the steering is instantly good. The automatic gearshifts are discerningly timed in ‘Sport plus’
