Chevrolet Malibu LTZ 2010
The 2010 Malibu has three trim levels: LS, LT, and LTZ. All models come with a 169-hp, 2.4-liter E85-compatible four-cylinder engine as standard equipment. The LS includes a four-speed automatic transmission. The LT and LTZ include a six-speed automatic transmission. Optional on the LT and LTZ is a 252-hp, 3.6-liter V6, matched with a six-speed automatic. The Malibu comes with standard safety features such as seat-mounted thorax airbags, side-curtain airbags, stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes. Bluetooth is standard on the LTZ, optional on the LT. New for 2010, driver power lumbar is standard on all trims.
This latest Malibu mirrors the dressy exterior styling of several mega-bucks German touring sedans, while the fit and finish of body parts, the precise consistency of seams as body panels merge, also compares keenly to German cars. The stylish treatment carries over to the interior design of the Malibu, as the cabin looks handsome and deploys deluxe materials to cover dash, doors and seats.
The Malibu’s unibody platform features a long wheelbase and wide track with world-class chassis dynamics to set up its superior handling traits. A fully independent suspension features MacPherson struts with aluminum L-shaped control arms up front with a four-link rear suspension. V6-models like our LTZ tester get a slighter larger rear sway bar as well.
The exterior of this car is terrific. The exterior is sleek, handsome, and much fitter and hipper than the old Malibu. The headlights have a great design to them and the dual port Chevrolet grille works well on the front end. The panel gaps are all ridiculously tight!
Like the exterior the interior is sharp looking. It’s good in that it’s a creative design using contrasting colours and materials; the basic black is broken up with swathes of colour and aluminum-look plastic, and it does break up the humdrum. There were some nice touches inside: soft, teal mood lighting, a USB connector on the stereo (though, its removable rubber cover would be lost in a week), a cavernous centre console box and big, comfy, leather seats that are electrically adjustable. The leather seats looked great and were supportive. The fit and finish was terrific just like the exterior. The top of the dash has soft touch material (lesser trim models do not feature soft touch material). The wood is definitely fake. The upgraded Bose branded sound system sounded fine but not mind blowing. A USB port was on the head unit and connected to my iPhone quickly without an issue. The front seat backs are scooped out to increase rear seat leg/knee room. The automatic climate control is simple to use and the radio is the General Motors black tie unit. Overall the interior looked nice but I know the materials fall slightly in the lower trim models.
Chrysler 300 Stylish Car 2010
The Chrysler 300 is one of the last of the big, powerful, rear-wheel-drive American four-door sedans, a car for the open road and a long highway. Long-wheelbase models are also available. Aimed primarily at the chauffeur-driven executive class, the long-wheelbase version offers a cavernous back seat with impressive leg room. It’s great for tall folks or anyone who likes space and convenience, and it can be equipped with custom features such as writing tables and foot rests.

Audi A3 TDI 2010
The Audi A3 is the entry-level model for the four-ringed brand here in the U.S. Until now, it has only been sold with a choice of a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder or 3.2-liter V6 engines running on gasoline. At the Detroit Auto Show, Audi announced that the A3 TDI would go on sale late this year.
Few would argue the Audi A3 is a very competent little hatchback, or that the current 2.0-liter turbo-four and 3.2-liter V-6 are fantastic gas engines, but the availability of an equally fantastic diesel engine can only increase the appeal of this little Audi. Americans will only be able to get the A3 TDI with the S tronic (DSG) transmission and front-wheel drive. Audi says this is because the A3 TDI exists solely for fuel efficiency, perhaps something to consider as a luxurious alternative to the Toyota Prius and Honda Insight which are also appearing at the 2009 Detroit auto show.
The driver and front passenger are protected by the A3’s 2-stage, next-generation front air bags and side air bags with seat occupant sensors. Audi’s Sideguard head-protection air bags for front and rear occupants are also standard, with rear side air bags optional. An Electronic Stabilization Program (ESP) is also standard equipment.
Audi won’t announce pricing of the A3 TDI until closer to its on-sale date late this year. The current A3 2.0-liter turbo gasoline engine with the S-Tronic runs $28,400 so the TDI is likely to run about $30,000. While that is a bit on the high side for a compact five-door hatchback, it’s quite competitive with the BMW 1-series with much better interior space. Since BMW doesn’t offer its 1-series diesel here in the U.S., you can’t get a direct comparison. With diesel now roughly back at parity in price with gasoline, the A3 will soon offer a premium compact with good handling and excellent fuel economy.
Until now, the Audi A3 has been offered for sale in North America only with gasoline engines. In 2010, Audi introduces the A3 TDI, equipped with a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter clean-diesel engine. It is expected in showrooms during the first quarter of 2010.
Everything else in the little Audi should remain the same. A superb interior, hatchback capabilities, and lively driving dynamics won’t be compromised by the diesel engine; you’ll just go a little farther on each gallon of fuel. As a luxurious and sporty competitor to the increasing number of hybrids on the market, the 2010 Audi A3 TDI is clearly worth a look for eco-conscious people who also enjoy driving.
